Used Chevy Avalanche Engine
Used OEM engines for the 2002β2013 Chevy Avalanche 1500. Both generations use a 5.3L V8, but the engine was updated several times: the 2007β2013 trucks added Active Fuel Management on many engines, and flex-fuel versions differ from gas-only engines. The 8th digit of your VIN tells us the exact engine code, so we match the engine to your VIN, confirm the mileage in writing before you pay, and ship it free by liftgate freight with a 3-year parts warranty.

Frequently asked questions
The Avalanche shares its 5.3L V8 family with the Silverado and other GM trucks of the same years, but there are several versions with different engine codes, sensors and fuel systems. We match by the 8th digit of your VIN so the replacement plugs into your truck's wiring and computer.
It is not a simple swap. The second-generation engines use different electronics, and many have Active Fuel Management, so the engine computer and wiring expect that version. We recommend replacing it with the same engine your Avalanche left the factory with.
Have your mechanic change the oil, filter and coolant, inspect the radiator, water pump and hoses, and transfer any accessories from the old engine as needed. Fixing what caused the original failure, such as overheating or low oil, protects the replacement.
Yes. Every used engine comes with our 3-year parts warranty on major internal components when installed by an ASE certified mechanic. Full terms are on our Terms & Warranty page and on your written quote.
