Used Chevy Suburban Engine
Used OEM engines for the Chevy Suburban 1500 and 2500. The 2000β2006 Suburban 1500 used a 5.3L V8 (including flex-fuel versions) while the 2500 used a 6.0L V8 or an 8.1L V8, the 2007β2014 Suburban 1500 used a 5.3L V8 (most with Active Fuel Management) and the 2500 a 6.0L V8, and the 2015β2020 Suburban uses a 5.3L V8 (L83) with a 6.2L V8 (L86) on some trims. The 1500 and 2500 do not share the same engines, and flex-fuel and model year changes matter too, so we match the engine to your VIN, confirm the mileage in writing before you pay, and ship it free by liftgate freight in 7β14 business days with a 3-year parts warranty.

Frequently asked questions
No. In most years the 1500 used a 5.3L V8 while the heavier 2500 used a 6.0L V8, and some 2000β2006 2500 models had the 8.1L V8. Mounts, wiring and engine computer programming also differ, so the replacement has to match your exact model and VIN.
GM built both a regular 5.3L and a flex-fuel 5.3L for these Suburbans. The 8th character of your VIN is the engine code, and a sticker in the glove box lists the RPO codes. Send us the VIN and we confirm the right engine before quoting.
Plan on new gaskets and seals, spark plugs, a thermostat, coolant and oil, and inspect the motor mounts, hoses, water pump and harness connectors. Transfer usable sensors and accessories from your old engine if the condition is good, and prime the oil system before the first start.
Every used engine comes with our 3-year parts warranty on major internal components when installed by an ASE certified mechanic. Full terms are on our Terms & Warranty page and on your written quote.
