Yes. 4WD Escapes use a transmission set up for the power transfer unit, so a front-wheel-drive unit is not a direct swap. Your VIN tells us the drivetrain and engine, and we match the transmission to it.
No. The 6F35 was used for many years behind different engines, and internal parts, calibration and connectors changed over time. Matching by VIN makes sure the unit fits your Escape's engine and year.
Flush or replace the transmission cooler lines, fill with the Ford-specified fluid to the correct level, check the mounts and wiring connectors, and clear stored codes. On some years the transmission control module may need to be programmed with a scan tool after install.
