It depends on the year and trim. For example, 1996–2000 Civics used different 1.6L D16 versions (the D16Y8 VTEC in the EX and the D16Y7 in other trims), and from 2016 a Civic can have either the 2.0L or the 1.5L turbo. Send us your VIN and we will match the exact engine.
Engines that look alike can differ in VTEC, sensors, wiring and emissions parts between trims and years. Matching to your VIN avoids buying an engine that bolts in but does not work with your car's computer and harness.
Most mechanics replace the timing belt and water pump on older belt-driven engines, plus the oil, filter, coolant, thermostat and any leaking seals or gaskets before the engine goes in. Ask your mechanic to check the motor mounts as well.
