Frequently asked questions
No. The JK changed from the 4-speed 42RLE to a 5-speed automatic for 2012, when the 3.6L Pentastar replaced the 3.8L V6. The two are not interchangeable, so we confirm the year and engine from your VIN.
Usually the transmission is sold without the transfer case. If your Wrangler also needs a transfer case, tell us when you ask for a quote and we will match both to your VIN.
Flush the transmission cooler and lines, use the fluid type specified for your unit, inspect the mounts, driveshafts and wiring connectors, and check the transfer case for leaks or damage. On electronically controlled units, clear stored codes and run a test drive after installation.
