Used OEM engines for the Toyota Tundra. First-generation Tundras used V6 engines and the 4.7L 2UZ-FE V8. The 2007–2021 Tundra used the 4.0L 1GR-FE V6, the 4.7L 2UZ-FE V8 through 2009, the 4.6L 1UR-FE V8 from 2010 and the 5.7L 3UR-FE V8. From 2022 the Tundra uses a 3.4L twin-turbo V6. Frequently asked questions
The 3UR-FE was used for the whole second generation, but sensors, wiring and some accessories changed over the years, and a few versions were built for flex fuel. Your VIN tells us exactly which version your Tundra needs.
We recommend replacing the engine with the same type your Tundra came with. A different engine usually needs a different computer, wiring and sometimes transmission, so a VIN-matched engine is the simplest and safest repair.
Change the oil and filter, replace the thermostat, water pump and drive belt if worn, replace the timing belt on the 4.7L 2UZ-FE (the 4.0L, 4.6L and 5.7L use timing chains), inspect the coolant hoses, and clear any stored codes after start-up.
